Join textile artist Urshula Stehle to discover how to transfer a silhouette picture into weaving, by using the double weave pick-up technique.
This workshop is being held as part of the Hervey Bay Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artists exhibition.

Location: Gatakers Creative Space, 311 Kent Street Maryborough
Materials required:- 4 shaft loom with warp on, ready to start weaving. Warping instructions can be found by clicking the link below. The loom needs to have a good shed for weaving.
- A silhouette picture/print out not larger than A4. A simple picture to start with, not too much "snorkels" (there will be a folder with suitable pictures available for use)
- 2 Pick-up sticks, at least 50cm long, shouldn't be narrower than 3.5cm wide and 3mm thick.
- Weft yarn 8ply wool, 2 colours suitable for your picture (1 colour for the silhouette motif and 1 colour for the background) 50g each + 10g of each colour from the 8/2 cotton warp thread for the hem.
- Sticky tape
- Pencil & eraser
- Black pen, Fineliner 0.4
- 2 boatshuttles or weaving sticks
- Pins with head
- Everything you need for weaving
- Notebook
- Bring your own lunch
Workshop Cancellation Policy:
- Gatakers Artspace cannot accept responsibility for any changes in personal circumstances. Missed workshops or change of mind are at your own expense.
- If a participant chooses to cancel their confirmed registration, or cannot or does not attend the workshop, the following will apply:
- The registered participant may invite another person to substitute their place in the workshop (in which they are registered) at any time at no charge;
- If notice is received 2 or less days from the scheduled starting date, a refund will not be offered.
- If a workshop is cancelled by Gatakers Artspace a full refund or a reschedule will be provided. Gatakers Artspace will endeavour to advise participants of cancellation at least 48 hours prior to workshop.
