Spend a relaxing morning in the Studio at Gatakers Artspace and discover the joy of hand‑building your very own clay vase. This welcoming workshop is designed for both complete beginners and those with some clay experience—everyone is invited to create, explore, and enjoy.

What to Expect

Guided Clay Techniques
Learn a range of foundational hand‑building methods, including pinching, coiling, and slab construction. Our facilitator will guide you step‑by‑step, ensuring you feel supported and confident throughout the process.

Decorating with Underglazes
Once your vase is formed, add colour and character using vibrant ceramic underglazes. After the session, we will kiln‑fire your piece, apply a clear glaze, and fire it again for strength and shine. We’ll give you a call when your finished artwork is ready for collection.

Creative Inspiration
A selection of reference images will be available to spark ideas and help guide your creative choices if you'd like some inspiration.

  • All materials are supplied
  • Please wear closed‑in shoes and bring a water bottle
  • Suitable for adults and youth aged 14+

Workshop Cancellation Policy

  • Gatakers Artspace cannot accept responsibility for any changes in personal circumstances. Missed workshops or change of mind are at your own expense.
  • If a participant chooses to cancel their confirmed registration, or cannot or does not attend the workshop, the following will apply:
  • The registered participant may invite another person to substitute their place in the workshop (in which they are registered) at any time at no charge;
  • If notice is received 2 or less days from the scheduled starting date, a refund will not be offered
  • If a workshop is cancelled by Gatakers Artspace a full refund or a reschedule will be provided. Gatakers Artspace will endeavour to advise participants of cancellation at least 48 hours prior to workshop.
